Bulldog Foundation Meeting – January 8, 2013
Present: Rick Aning, Virginia Panlasigui, Pat Mark, Silvia Guzman, José da Silva, Helen Garza, Linda Lima, Christina Castro, Cary Catching, Reiko Takao, Patrick Vigil, Pat Nakashima.
Meeting called to order at 6:05 p.m. by President Patrick Vigil.
Quorum present. Christina moved, Rick seconded to approve minutes. Motion passed.
No reports from Treasurer or Alumni.
Principal’s report: Cary
Cary attended the Thursday evening board meeting in December where new board members were installed. The Board proclaimed 2013 as “The Year of San José High.” The new board member from SJHS attendance area Teresa Castellanos is an alum of SJHS.
Cary received mail from IRS. Still no confirmation of non-profit status.
150th Celebration: Reiko
The opening luncheon is scheduled from 12 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. 204 people are expected at the luncheon (San José Country Club).
Christina reported on luau. March 23 (Saturday) is date set for event – venue is school cafeteria.
As information becomes more firmed up, she will forward to Kent to put on website.
Rock n’ roll half marathon – Helen asked about trainer. Reiko gave information about trainer and also registration info.
Golden Gate Fields – Cary gave information regarding this event that Gunderson Foundation did. Was very successful.
Turkey Bowling – Rick? (did you volunteer to lead this?)
Bocci ball – Cary
at St. Francis Cabrini; possibly June 8 (Sunday after graduation) ; cost $75 to reserve the play area, $5 per person. Catering can be done by outside party. Cary suggested a committee to report by February. Christina, Virginia and Rick will help.
Pat Mark suggested establishment of a marketing committee, and especially for more personal contact with alumni and community. Reiko suggested a membership drive and some kind of activity that members can participate in. Pat Mark and Silvia will work on membership.
Cary invited Pat N to look at files to have an up-to-date list of members of Bulldog Foundation.
José moved, Rick seconded. Meeting adjourned at 6:38 p.m.
